Ashley Nowak-Hill

T.H.E. Modern Dance Company: Artistic Director

Ashley Hill (Nowak) loves sharing her passion for dance and the arts with others and has always sought opportunities to fuse various art forms in education and performance. She credits her love of dance to her family, who owned a performing arts studio in Maumee, Ohio for 20 years called OnStage Studio. Growing up, she often attended rehearsals and classes with her mother and was very fortunate to have both her mother and aunt as instructors when they combined forces to open OnStage Studio – emphasizing the discipline of the performing arts with respect to each growing artist. When she was not taking advantage of the opportunities at the studio, Ashley was performing and choreographing shows for Croswell Opera House (Adrian, MI), Valentine Theatre (Toledo, OH), Toledo Repertoire Theater (Toledo, OH), Oregon Community Theatre (Oregon, OH) and for various Middle Schools and High Schools. As a young adult she began teaching a Modern class and was able to build additional programs as a vocal instructor, audition prep coach and head of her own Showcase Company. She was accepted into both the Musical Theater and Opera Performance programs at BGSU where she studied, performed and cultivated her love of writing before graduating in 2011. Her recent project with partner, Allie Batey, was created for her hometown as a celebration of humanity and the experiences that make us whole.
